Horticulture

Growing Together, formerly Landbase and Walled Gardens, is our dedicated horticulture day service at Lisieux Hall. It is a place where growth and essential life skills are nurtured.

Through hands-on activities like sowing seeds and creating planters, we offer a supportive space. We encourage individuals to build skills and achieve their full potential.

Gardening with purpose

Our gardening projects cover every aspect of horticulture. The team gets involved in everything from seed sowing and planting to harvesting the final crop.

The fruit and vegetables grown by our team are proudly used at our food-based enterprises or to feed the animals at Pets’ Corner. Individuals are also welcome to take produce home to share with their families. People gain practical skills through activities such as weeding, digging, mulching, and maintaining beautiful gardens for everyone to enjoy.

Protecting nature and building community

Beyond gardening, our talented woodworking team designs and creates bird boxes, bug houses, and wildlife habitats to promote biodiversity.

We produce and sell handcrafted seasonal items, including Christmas wreaths and grave pots. All money raised is reinvested back into the service.

The team also contributes to local communities. We create peaceful nature walks and partner with local schools for educational gardening projects. We also collaborate with Cuerden Valley Park, cultivating rare flowers and producing wild seed balls for their popular Colour Run event.

“It’s not just about watching the plants grow, but also watching the people grow.”

Julie, Landbase Support Worker at Best Lives

Celebrating success and personal growth

We’re proud of our achievements. We regularly participate in competitions such as North West in Bloom, where we achieved Grade 5 out of 5 in 2025. We also previously secured a Gold award at the Chorley Flower Show.

Each participant sets monthly personal goals to develop valuable life and vocational skills. Many of the people we support build confidence, independence, and pursue accredited qualifications in horticulture.
