Best Days

Best Days, formerly Network 50, is a relaxed and social day service designed for adults who prefer a slower-paced environment. The service is suited for those with dementia or higher support needs, but is open to adults of any age who want to stay mentally active and build friendships.

Unlike some specialist services, Best Days focuses on choice. People are free to decide what they want to do on the day, ensuring the experience is always enjoyable and tailored to how they are feeling.

Learning through fun

Best Days is not just about fun – the sessions foster independence through engaging, purposeful activities that focus on ‘hidden’ learning.

Essential personal and social skills are integrated into enjoyable experiences. For example, money management is practiced through coin identification games, while making a cup of tea becomes a social event that reinforces motor skills and sequencing.

Participants also make use of the mock up shop and laundrette. These stimulated areas provide a safe space to practice shopping and laundry tasks, helping individuals keep their life skills sharp.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

Activities and events

Every day at Best Days is different. The schedule often revolves around national holidays and events, such as National Down Syndrome Day or seasonal celebrations, to keep things meaningful and exciting.

Typical activities include:

  • Arts and crafts: Using paints, collage, and macramé to express creativity

  • Baking: Following simple recipes to create delicious treats

  • Games and puzzles: Friendly competitions of bingo, dominoes, and brain games to support problem-solving

  • Relaxation: Film afternoons and quiet socialising
